WGAL has added an interactive radar map to its website. It is really good. It is a flash map over Microsoft's Virtual Earth. You can zoom in and out of it, and pan around, so you find exactly where you are. You can toggle between a road map and an aerial photograph. You can work with a static radar picture or animate it. And when storms pop up, hovering over them will give you a projected path and timeline of where and when the storm will be 10, 30, 60 minute from now. Play weatherman yourself! Link to the right, top, in the weather section.
It's already helped me avoid getting wet by staying an extra 45 minutes at work last Friday.

Average Temperatures
We are in a cold wave right now. Unseasonably warm weather is expected in a few days though, which is great because gas prices are rising again. Can't wait to get back on the scooter. But it had me wondering... when can we expect warmer weather? We're past the solstice, days are getting longer... nice days can't be far behind, right?
Wrong.
I don't like to ride unless it's above freezing and headed into the mid 40's. On average, we won't see that until March. So until then, enjoy the freak weather.

Eye on the Skies
If you are going to scoot Lancaster, you need to know what the weather is going to be like. I hear that a thunderstorm at 40mph is painful, and I hope it's a long time before I experience it. So, to help us all out, I have posted the weather links I use most in the upper right corner of this blog. Check them all until you find a forecast you like!
